Contest for Grades 5-8 & Grades 9-12 |
ONE entry per person
Will accept poetry, short stories, one act plays or essays up to 500 words
Include a title, name, grade and phone number on the entry
Entries must be typed and submitted in both print and electronic form on CD or disk (Microsoft Word or Publisher)
Entries must be original and unpublished
Deadline for submission to HM or CC is Friday, May 7, 2010 @ 5:00 pm
Prizes
1st Place - Trophy & $25.00 Chamber of Commerce Gift Certificate
2nd Place - Trophy & $15.00 Chamber of Commerce Gift Certificate
3rd Place - Trophy & $10.00 Chamber of Commerce Gift Certificate
A panel of 5 judges will chose 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category
Entries will be judged for creativity, clarity and quality, as well as correct spelling, grammar and punctuation, while still allowing for artistic license
Winners will be asked to read their work and receive prizes at the July meeting of the MCPL Friends meeting
Will publish booklets of the winners and up to 20 other submitted works
